Merci for Not Smoking!

For those of us not fond of fine French cuisine served with a hefty side-order of cigarette smoke, 2008 is a year to rejoice. As of January 1, smoking is banned in France’s cafes, restaurants, bistros and bars. No more waving away the wafts of smoke while you dine. No more sitting in “non fumeur” ghettos with other tourists. Some of our favorite chefs who prefer to serve their cuisine sans smoke had already banished puffers (Les Ombres and Le Tire Bouchon come to mind) – but now you should be smoke-free wherever you dine.
